Dedicated Illinois Divorce and Family Law Attorney
Divorce is common in this country. But if you're going through one, that fact doesn't ease your pain. If there are children, they feel the stress of the break-up as much as you do.
However, you have to move on. To protect your interests and emerge from the divorce as whole as possible, speak to an experienced divorce lawyer. In Illinois, contact the Law Offices of Donald J. Cosley.
At the Law Offices of Donald J. Cosley, we'll represent your interests rigorously. To avoid the emotional and financial strain of litigation, we'll seek to negotiate an agreement that satisfies your best interests.
However, if we can't achieve an amicable agreement that meets your needs, attorney Cosley has almost 15 years of litigation experience and is prepared to litigate your case to pursue your best interests.
Our divorce and family law experience includes:
- Contested and uncontested divorces
- Child custody
- Joint parenting agreements
- Child support
- Paternity
- Child support modifications
- Child support enforcement actions
- Property division
- Orders of protection
Paternity
If a child is born outside of marriage, the child's mother must establish paternity before she can collect child support from the biological father. To do so, she must initiate a paternity action. A court will require the alleged father to submit DNA samples. If the samples match the child's, the court will declare him the biological father, and he will be responsible to support his child financially.
I represent women seeking to establish paternity and defend men seeking to deny paternity. A biological father may want to establish a relationship with his child. I help such men establish their paternity.
Modifications
The terms of a divorce decree may be modified if circumstances change. For instance, children grow, and the cost to support their needs increases. If your situation has changed, we'll initiate a request to modify the divorce decree to meet your needs.
Enforcement Actions
If your ex-spouse doesn't comply with the divorce decree, there are measures you can take to enforce the order. If you're not getting the child support due you, we can request a garnishment of wages, interception of your former spouse's tax refund or take other actions until he or she pays the outstanding balance.
